Kitchen Cambria quartz counter too busy. Can it be removed & reused?

I loved the pattern when I saw it in a 2' x2' sample, but as soon as I saw the big piece for my counter I regretted buying it. I have light and dark colored cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and an Island. My backsplash, which I love, is very neutral with a few rows of glass tile that has same colors as counter top. I have golden oak wood floors. I have a beautiful mantle over my cooktop. How can I tone down my counter top? I would like to reuse it in my bathrooms which have small vanities. Has anyone removed their counter top. Thank you, Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Countertops are one of the few things that I would never try to DIY. If you do plan to remove them, I would suggest calling your installer and having them remove the tops. They can also help you rework the tops for reuse into a vanity - they'll have to bring them back to their shop to recut and polish.

Agree with Doug Lewis Remodeling. When choosing a new kitchen counter - make sure you see the slab. Small samples are just ideas. Your fabricator should have slabs of Cambria Quartz for you to view or large samples.

Could not agree more! Call your fabricator to pull the tops and re-cut them to vanity sizes. There are a few Cambria colors out there that have a softer, less busier pattern. Make sure you see the full slab of anything you choose before installing! Good Luck.

What Cambria was it. I am looking at New Haven or Lincolnshire. It's a small kitchen with cherry cabinets. It has MSI toasted Almond now which feels cheap.

It is not possible to see a quartz slab at a fabricator unless one is in stock for another client. But we have large 12x12 samples available, Cambria's website has lots of room photos on all colors, and you can also purchase large samples from Cambria.
I agree that you can not realize a wavy patter from a 2 or 3 inch sample.

Is every Cambria slab different? I thought they were man made so they had a consistent pattern. Does Cambria have a busier pattern then the same type of product from MSI

Thank you for all your comments in regards to my Cambria quartz kitchen countertop. The name of the design I believe is Canterbury. The sample was 2 foot square not 2 inches. Yes, I agree I would now look for bigger and better samples. I do agree with Doug Lewis Remodeling and go back to the installer. It is unfortunate since I did request a simple pattern. I have learned the more colors, even if some are subtle, the busier the pattern is.

Canterbury is a pretty slab. I saw that one when I was looking for quartz countertops.
