Frame is too small, but you could have plates breaking out of the frame, outside the frame as well as inside.
Have you considered breaking the plates and hanging them as chards? Sort of anthropological/ruins look?

I don't like plates in a living room. They look nice in a dining room. Kind of like movie stills in a dining room - would not make sense.

Really like your drapes. Get a large piece of art for over your couch.

If your heart is set on the plates this might be a way to bulk them out

If you love the plates there, I think you need to add more and different colors. Check out this photo of the plates (seen in the right corner, barely). ASVInteriors "boxed" plate idea is good. Or, get picture frames and just remove the glass/backs and hang the plate in the center.

Are you willing to swap the sheet music from the DR for the plates in the living room? I'm curious how you are going to pull together brown, blue ish gray, purple, black and tangerine. Hopefully you love it!

Yes that was my thought as AVS showed so brilliantly. Shadow boxed with a mirror in the center. The frame you purchased is great as the center size for a mirror grab some shadow boxes to flank it left and right and you have something unique and you!

I love that idea about the lamps. My concern is I don't think they would provide enough light to read by.

yesterday was garbage day and I was throwing out 4 old Anderson window screens. I thought, how could I make them into frames to frame some art I have. So this morning, I took out the screens. I will spray paint them black to add to my existing artwork to make them look bigger, not sure whether I will hang them vertically or frame two at a time horizontally, but you can see your idea in my pictures.

Here is a picture of the frame just hanging vertically. Found some black spray paint too. I think I will hang it vertically and perhaps, like you gogark, I will paint the inside a darker beige. Not l00% sure yet and if it doesn't work, they can go in the garbage.

Edward, not sure if that was meant for me too but here are the finished frames. I still need to take off the clips. Just wanted to see it up in the hallway and live with it for a day to see if I really want to paint inside the frame like gogark.

But it inspired a friend to do a backsplash in her kitchen she put them on with thinset then a clear epoxy over the top.

When I took apart the screens, I was left with these metal pieces that look like I can make it into a wall iron sculpture. I'll see what I can do with it and post again when I'm done and then maybe I will start saving can tops next.

You need more plates to make this work ,the area is large and the plates are too small to complete the look ,let me see if I find an idea .

Terrific, tennisanyone, you are on a roll!! Can't find the ideabook, but there was a Houzzer that took the screen fabric and turned it into a cover for her pendant lighting - you might have an empty garbage can, if you follow in her steps!

I also made a jewelry holder from another old screen for my daughter. I still need to paint the frame white to match her room and take off the clips. To think last week, I was throwing the screens in the garbage, shame on me !
