Check in your area for a fabricator for concrete counter tops. They can make panels that are tile sized at about a thickness of 3/8". They can custom color them in any color you'd like.

Another option is to call a stucco installer and have traditional stucco applied in a smooth finish with expansion joints cut into it. You can choose any color with this option too, including a straight cement color. This will give you the look of concrete tile as well. Good luck.

I thought I would update my post with our solution. Thanks for the suggestion. We did use a stucco guy but it took two tries. First guy made a mess of the wall and it looked terrible. Second guy did a fantastic job - he finished with a wax which gives a nice subtle sheen. It looks like venetian plaster and everyone that walks in loves it!
