We are building a new house too. I am choosing cream cabinets with a dark stained island. I am having a dark stained wooden vent to tie in with the island. Your plans look great! Nice big kitchen!

Based on the sketch this kitchen is very large with lots of cabinets.
I would recommend the cream cabinets with darker wood island to help ground the space. I didn't see the us,and but hopefully it is proportionate and will sufficiently define the space. Good luck!

I just installed cream cabinets with a dark island and I LOVE how they look. It is a bit more time-consuming to keep them clean, but I'd rather see dirty cabinets get cleaned than have one that just hides the dirt that's there. What other finishes have you chosen; flooring for example. How much natural light will the space get? Go through your idea book and find the kitchen that would make your dreams come true, and then choose your materials based on that photo. You should try to put together a sample-board with choices for countertops, flooring, cabinet colours, any fabrics that may be in the room, paint colours you like. I know there's a lot of choices you need to make when building a house, but it helps to have a plan in place when you need to pick out the really expensive, more permanent items.

I agree with the statements above. That is a whole lot of cabinets to only have one color throughout. I would go cream with the wood island. Keep the countertops the same or similar in tone.

As an option you can also add the darker cabinets to break up the cream and balance the mix as well as tie into the island.

That is a huge kitchen, please move the sink and stove closer together, to make cooking fun, not a journey.

My new kitchen has virtually the same layout. Make sure the sink that you plan to put in the island opposite the stove is large enough and deep enough to fill a big pot, or drain a big pot of water without splashing back at you - i.e. not a "bar sink". MIne is 18" diameter circular, 9" deep, and is plenty big enough to accommodate my biggest stock-pot.

Mixing cream and dark cabinets is a great idea in this situation.

both would look nice - suggest rift sawn oak if you can

I would use the countertop surface that gives you the look you want. Quartz is usually more expensive than granite but I would use it anyway if your wanting a solid look that you can't find in a granite or if you prefer the uniform pattern the comes with quartz. I would not let maintenance of granite sway your decision because you can make sure they use a lifetime sealer on the granite (most in our area do anyways). I agree with most of those above that suggest cream cabinets with a cherry island.
