First, I love, love, love the fireplace and all those windows are fabulous.

There are probably a couple ways you could go with the curtains. I think you would want the curtain rods nearer to the window than to the crown molding. Though it might make the ceilings look higher with the rod nearer to the crown, it might look a little funky when the curtains are open.

Just one opinion. I'm betting you will hear some great ideas for this.

Because of the depth of the crown detail at the top of the window mouldings, it may not be possible to mount draperies below the ceiling crown moulding and have them hang freely...
...but you do have the depth of the upper mouldings to your advantage - so having your installer mount your rods just below the window crown would be appropriate.

Just be sure you select rods that are substantial, and your draperies are fabricated with pleats, lining, and in a length that allows for a nice break to them so that they'll stand up to the richness of the other details in your home.

Agree with the above comments and think veil roman shades could work covering the glass doors,
hanging silk draperies over veil curtains one each sides of the fire place for drama and coziness.
i think the french doors need extreme simplicity whereas the windows can take more elaborate window treatment -
It would balance the placement of the three openings.
it is fun to decorate - have a great time with it all.

This is a common type of moulding in Australia. Roman Blinds would be the most popular choice. Perhaps below the moulding at the top of the door? The moulding is beautiful, it would be a shame to cover it! Good luck.

Yes, they go below the crown, where the window starts..Id look for some rods with great finials at the end to look gorgeous. IF you are going with Silk as one suggested- Silk rots in high sun areas.. better get a sun block lining..those two tone silk looks that look one colour when the sun hits one way and another when the sun changes..are nice- its up to what goes with the room.. I think for sure I'd go a little more formal than Roman in this focal area of your home. Congratulaions! Enjoy your new home.

With the beautiful windows, crown moulding and what looks like a nice view I'd do a nice fabric accordion blind, and I'd probably leave them up all the time to expose the windows. But I like lots of sunshine and am not big on curtains of any kind. Seems dated to me. Roman blinds would be nice too.

i agree with a few of the ideas. however, keep in mind as gorgeous as they are...Roman Blinds will always be blocking some of your natural light when pulled up. like a valance.if you were to hang a rod, i would suggest it below the crown moulding for a more elegant effect.

NO curtains just blinds!!

If you don't have to worry about privacy, leave them alone as they are. If you do have privacy issues, the type of window treatment would depend on your furniture style.

leave the french doors nakie .. and do a nice wide blind /plantation shutter that would match either your flooring or plain old white

I have the same problem. Fireplace in center and 2 huge windows. At first had silk drapes and i always felt it took away from the fireplace. I just got plantation shutters and wow what a differance! Our wall color is about the same as yours and we have heavy crown molding as well. Good luck!
