When doing our guest bathroom I wanted just a big tiled shower. Husband was not having it. He insisted on a tub/shower. He got his way. The tub doesn't bother me but I would have still done a shower.

Shower would be fine for guest bath.

I had a small master bath that I remodeled last year. The bath designer and builder both said that it is fine to go with out a tub and do a larger shower if space is a problem for both tub and shower. As long as there is one bathtub in the house that is good for resale. Hope this helps.

I've never had a guest who wanted to take a bath even though it was an option. I would just do the shower.

I'm probably in the minority, but if I had been traveling I would love a nice warm bath before bed, not a shower were I would have a hard time keeping my hair dry.

Shower only then if you have older guests they don't have to clamber over the tub to take a shower and potentially slip etc etc.

I tend to think this is a North American vs Europe debate, although maybe the demographics are changing. I know how I like to bathe so a master bathroom should reflect my needs. However, one receives guests with differing tastes so accommodating them with a shower and tub is the most appropriate.I agonized over a recent build and eventually decided I had to do a bath with a shower in it. That approach may not work so well in North America, but still holds water here (hah!)

If you have one bath you need tub and shower combo at a minimum. If you have two or more baths, at least one should contain a tub for resale value. if you already had a tub in the house and redid this bathroom just a shower would have been fine.

We are remideling our guest bathroom. Taking shower out and doing a soaker tub. We have a master bathroom with tub and shower. Is this a good move. Will it affect the resale.

You should probably start your own thread, but for me, a house with no walk-in shower would be a deal breaker.

dorothy i would think more people shower than bathe especially in domeone elses house. however for resale people with families also like tubs, so i think both is better if ur gonna sell. if not, dont worry about both but if its shower only or tub only, do shower.
