Help!! Marital dispute over kitchen faucet!

Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but the faucet my husband wants for our new gorgeous transitional kitchen looks to me like a futuristic monster from War of the Worlds. (Pic 1)

He might be willing to compromise on the faucet in pic 2 but I'm not in love with it.

I'm here to ask for specific suggestions of faucets that 'aren't boring/standard' and are gorgeous and traditional without being overly crazy or alien-esque. Chrome finish. Any price. Needs to have sprayer and nylon cord.

I agree with ASV- why not try the more extreme look. It may be fun to use. I would say it's not letting the man win so much as it encouraging him to be adventurous with his design knack. It is give and take in my house, but in the end we agree on something and I am happy that he cares enough to try.

I would go with #1, too. It is different and I love the height. What I don’t think you will need (nor do I like the looks of) is the additional sprayer on the deck of the sink. I could pass on the soap dispenser, also.

LOVE culinary faucets! #1 is a little too out-there for me but #2 is a little too traditional. How about something in-between?

That first one really reminds me of the dental office I went to as a kid.....and that thought still sends terror through me, PTSD.

DH might like this one, which is tall & beefy, and has the 'heft' men would appreciate without being in-your-face, combined with traditional styling the ladies find attractive. Comes in a broad range of finishes.

The culinary faucets are wonderful. They look great in the right setting, and you will love to use them too.... so practical. Adds interest to a boring sink area.

They are both nice, but it depends on your kitchen as well. Kohler has one, too,,I believe it's the karbon faucet.

I vote no on both - 1 is way too busy and 2 seems very traditional. A lot of the suggestions are very good alternatives. Good luck and hope the comments here help to settle the dispute!

I like the one from Quality Bath's suggestion.

My issue is, is it going to LEAK? I get tired of that one, it decides to leak and is a mess....

I am going to be doing my kitchen last; and I did plumb for putting a fill tap at the cooktop!

That might mean not needing the pull sprayer part. Just a nice big deep sink and a good height arc so you can maneuver a big pot under it to clean the pot......

What kind of sink do you have? And what does the wall behind it look like? That would help us to help you. I think both of those are hideous. #1 is FAUX restaurant (and do you live in a restaurant?), #2 is less offensive.....

I had this one and loved it. The sprayer lays in the channel that forms the "faucet", just lift it out. I also loved that it came out from the wall, thus there were no holes in my granite, and the absolutely BEST part was when cleaning the counter, I did not have to wipe around the faucet or any other obstruction. Brilliant!!!

It looks like the Terminator mated with the faucet. You should get it and call it Arnold. I think you guys need to keep looking. By the way what would be your choice?

Mantra..It's almost done...It's almost done.

Certainly a reno of this proportion is more difficult then buying a home. But think of how many wonderful and interesting things you learned!

True. And I feel like I'll love it when it all comes together but I am also scared that I'll make a stupid/wrong choice that'll bug me for years - and after all this time, energy and MONEY that'll be very annoying.

Oh, and it isn't almost done. We start demo in about 2 weeks then it's 6-8 weeks without a kitchen. With 2 elementary school kids. Fun!

This faucet from Dornbracht would be a stunning compromise..... If you see this in person you'll both fall in love with the beauty and construction. I've seen it done in traditional, transitional and contemporary designs... It's classic.

I don't know if anyone has told you this before but I know from experience that these are very heavy units . There is big potential to come loose with every day use. I just installed the one you show in my sisters house. Its not bad but without careful use it will come loose as it all mounts on a nut that goes under the sink. Theres my two cents.

Ps. The Waterstone faucet in person is very large! Much taller than you might think. And look at the Blanco in person.... I had bad luck with the actual quality of the faucet. They make a great sink though!

You set up a temp kitchen in another part of the house and enjoy cookouts. All doable. You'll be fine and your kidlets will remember this for a lifetime ...Take lots of pictures!!!

The one that is priced at $549 in the picture on the right,. I just installed the very same one at my sisters house and it probably weighs about maybe 5 or 6 pounds and it is quite high so when it is mounted, I did not feel its very stable. There is a large nut that goes under the sink and screws onto the main body of the faucet. I just feel that there is not much support under there for a large faucet.

Both seem like overkill. I like a simple faucet with an end that pulls out of the spout. No silly springs or arms needed to do a good job and look good. And I would spend the money saved on something else I wanted for my kitchen.

@giaksch yes, the Hansgrohe Axor is very good choice. It appears to fit you and your hubby's needs and style choices. Definitly more reasonable than those coily thingies, and probably more budget-friendly than the Jaclo I'm in love with....

I don't think i would like either of those monster faucets in front of my window! They stick up way too high and are more suited to an area not in front of a window...get one that sits below the casing...so in my response...no one wins

Who has to use it most? That person should have the final say. After all, function trumps beauty! I love many of the suggested alternatives. But, in the end, the main cook and dish washer should have the final word!

Those faucets are really made for commercial kitchens/cafeteria kitchens. Not for standard domestic use at all. Please go to Amazon.com and find you a nice chrome faucet for a really good price. I bought mine from that website, it's polished chrome with a sprayer that has two different spray options and it pulls out.
