I like that guy's trellis idea. Cages never work well for me.

I've been reading about Epson Salts and gardening...suppose to be really great for tomatoes and roses...still in process of reading about it before I actually try it...anyone have any experience with this? Here are my first blooms on my knock out rose bushes...just put them in last summer...

We plant in a raised garden bed and place a bunch of bamboo poles over the top of the rim of the sides.

Libbmom-thanks for that link think I am going to buy those. Last year I had the tomato in a spot where I think it was not getting enough sun. I moved it to a new spot and it is growing like crazy. I had the smaller cages and definitely they are too small.
bubbasgma-do you have a trellis that you like.

What happen to Margo's comment from earlier. Did she remove it?

I either use some cages, or a few stakes with stretchy stuff tied to them. We don't get much sun in our yard, and our growing season is shorter, so I dont need real tall support like you, Libb, Margo and Kare.

The one Libb posted from Lowes got good reviews.

I like that one and think I am going to order it. Looks like I can pick it up in store too. I planted three and they are going crazy and bending over. I bought some stakes but realized they were not much taller than the cages that are their now.
Margo-yes it is gone so someone must be watching my thread and complaining. Don't even remember what you said.

That's a pretty trellis, bubbasgma. I wonder how sweet peas would look on something like that?

That one is HUGE, and more decorative. More for vines like Kare's sweet peas flowers or Margo's Morning Glory. And would be tough to store during the winter.

Karemore55 - beware the sweet pea! It can become horribly invasive. It can tunnel under sidewalks and grow 15" taproots. Grows up between the leaves of irises. It attacked everything in my perennial garden.

Hey guys it has been awhile but remember when I was stressing where to put these. Look at how things have grown three months later.

They are now waist high plus been transplanting some in the front

Geez, Army!!! Plants on steroids! No fair! Look at the blue chair compared to the size of the coleus!!! That's what they are, right? My mama always had those burgundy ones with a bit of green. Did you make cuttings to root or just split off some from each plant? Looks great. All your work, you now have the satisfaction you were looking for outside your garden window.

I'm going to take some photos of crotons I have. Here would be my embarrassed question: do they look incredible natural and huge or should I cut them back again. I'll have to photo but resting right now with cup of coffee. ; )

Nice colourful choices. They are quite close- you could have a full look by Christmas? Have moved my single croton indoors..should start an early release program for my tropicals and send them to your house!

I spaced them pretty good so I am hoping that is good enough. I got some fountain grass but think it is a overkill.

My final question is what kind of path would you all think would look best. I am thinking if I could just gravel around the blocks that are there or remove the blocks and gravel the whole thing. I would like the path wider.

yes, Army, I think a wider path would look more like an actual path. Mine desperately needs to be done . I'm finding these single one one one one tedious to walk on. Someday I'm going to twist my ankle. Mine is single like this too and "someday" it will get changed. Dang, that's a big yard to keep up. Looks wonderful. Love those couleus!!!

I like your red mulch pics. Yes, i tried black mulch at first but after it dries out it looks like crumby olde dirt. We replaced it with red mulch later on...but the stray cats keep on digging in and S___ing there LOL. These cats have no idea what i'm trying to create

Did i explain that good ? Well, here's an analogy. Try painting a picture in a room with 2 year olds in where said 2 year olds like using their fingers to smuch your picture...well, that's our stray cats fudging up my landscape ideas
