Help need ideas for kitchen

Our kitchen is very outdated and needs some updating. Any ideas or photos would be great!

Are you planning to redo any cabinetry? If so, it might be a good idea to remove the upper cabinets to open the space, as mimorefu suggested. You can create an open plan layout which will bring it up to date.

I think it really depends on how far you intend to go. If you are keeping the cabinets, I would change out your backsplash to something a bit more up to date. Glass tiles or subway perhaps. Oil rubbed bronze pulls and knobs would really update your kitchen. I would also change out the faucets to the same color as knobs.

Are you going to change counters? Or are you looking for a minor makeover?

Didn't notice till I went back that the hood to your stove does not match your stove. That would also help update your kitchen. If you can afford to lose the cabinets above the stove, you could put in a very nice range hood. If not, definitely match them up.

here some of mi ideas. for open space remove the cabinets and fur down add some pendant lights. paint cabinets light color , new hardware, granite counter-top to mach to a new back-splash, paint walls, paint windows trim. replace cabinet crow-molding for a bigger one

If possible, remove the upper cabinets and the soffit to open up the space between your kitchen/dining area. Coordinating appliances are a plus. Good luck!

Do you have a budget? Keeping appliances? If the cabinets are in good shape, could you keep?

The room looks like it has good flow which helps.
Removing the soffits and the uppers between the seating and the kitchen will help!

That big light should go 1st! Can lights put over work areas would give you better lighting.

LED can lights in ceiling would be nice. LED's are also dimmable, so choose those over the CFL's. Have you considered quartz for counter tops? They just removed the soffit in my kitchen remodeling yesterday. Yippie! Consider that and have your cabinets go to the top with some crown molding to finish them at the ceiling. Good luck on your updating the kitchen. It is very exciting to look forward to this, isn't it!
