The grass is a standard Kentucky Bluegrass / Fescue mix. The key to pulling off the look is to have the pavers set level with the sod crown. Essentially, the dirt/sand setting material is 1 to 1.5 inches below the top of the paver. Then when you set the sod, the rooted / dirt part of the sod is level with the paver. The result is that only the soft blades stick up above the paver. Thanks for the question!
