Love the direction you are going. Try adding some pops of color with a rug at the foot of your bed and changing out the yellow with a color wave that is currently trending, orchid or a burnt coral would look gorgeous with grey neutral color palette you have going on. Try a photo collage to bring in an eclectic vibe behind your headboard with different frames in a similar color tone with black and white prints, always work in groups of odd numbers and layout a design before you start. Get adventurous and search your town for some local art, mirror or tapestry or get functional and repurpose materials, find something that is meaningful to you and tells a story. Regardless, keep things simple so that you can maintain the serene vibe while bringing some more life to the space.

I would add a piece of art that had just a bit of yellow and grey in it. I would like to see a bit more yellow in the room, even a bit of yellow in the lampshades and/or the base of the lamps. A soft yellow throw at the end of the bed just to tie in the yellow a bit more would be nice.

A set of mirrors or white windows made into mirrors

Good start:

A round mirror If it would reflect something interesting (there are a lot of squares going on).

Otherwise, art with black and white and yellow tones as Mark suggested.

Other observations:

-lamps appear to be not high enough to read in bed/shades are not sitting straight
-too many pillows/all the same size/lined up like soldiers.
-Place euroshams against the headboard/then 2 more pillows in btn the shams/ a 3rd smaller one (like a lumbar) in front of those.

Simplicity has replaced the "pillow parade" of yesterday.

I noticed you have a tray ceiling. Did you paint the inset the dark gray also/or maybe yellow?

Can we see a photo of it?

I would paint the whole room gray, unless the room is gigantic.

Get a rolling island like "Gallery Loft " here http://www.houzz.com/small-portable-kitchen-island . Then you could add some bar stools facing kitchen for dining. Or you could also turn it so you are facing the other end of room and back the couch up to it. perhaps even put some lights or big candle lanterns on it.

How a bout a nice tapestry or fabric that fills up the wall, or maybe a paneled effect to match the headboard. With the bright pillows, I think something fairly simple would be best.

Mirrors over the bed tend to toss energy away from the bed rather than welcoming you into the bed. Will go with a colorful art peace that you really like.

My choice would be dark metal art, rectangle shape keeping 6"+ below top of window height. Fill the width to match width of headboard.

Rather than predictable square art, 2 or 3 of my original birds paintings/sculptures would be amazing. I love the grey and yellow. Perhaps 4 16" x 20" frames, hung 2 and 2. Inside different pieces of grey and yellow fabric in different patterns. I like your pillows. This would carry that theme forward without being overwhelming.

Looking at other comments, I like Nancy Walton's colour choices in her 2nd picture (darker on top, lighter below)....I just believe it should be wider balance /w the bed.

I like the idea of a monochrome photo with pops of yellow to accent your pillows. That space is just screaming for a picture! :) It's A Beautiful World has some great photo ideas too. :)

My two cents: depends on where you live, but if your area EVER gets earthquakes, don't put a mirror, shelving, a glass- picture, or anything metal above your bed. Not something people typically think about, but worth considering.

Yup, but when it comes to glass or mirror it won't matter, because the vibration and torque of the quake will cause them to shatter. Not a pretty picture--pardon the pun.

What a beautiful room! I'm probably in the minority here, but I like the empty space above the bed. It's restful. If this were my room I think I'd push the drapes open a little bit wider, get bigger lamps, and enjoy the space!

There is not need to bring an accent to that area if you play well with the rest of the decor. Most important, bring accents to the front wall, that's your best view.

Ok, I moved the room, and got a picture. Not sure if the picture is to dark for the space? Which of these 2 lamps should I use or just stick to original grey ones?

The old lamps were better. You need higher ones if you want to read.

I would add a yellow ottoman to the foot of the bed instead of adding yellow to the lamps.

Can you tell us about the bedspread? Looks a little thin.

The bedspread is thin, because we live in Dubai with temp currently at 45C (115F). Do you have any suggestions to make the bedding look fuller without making it hotter?

Just put a folded silk throw along the foot of the bed. Can take it off at bedtime.

I like a lot of things about the room. the Paint and the drapes and side tables are nice. Maybe clear glass or bubble glass basses with turquoise drum shades,then get some deeper, darker shades of yellow/amber for the pillows and a turquoise pillow, too.

OR, cover the headboard with turquoise or yellow fabric, go with slightly darker solid yellow or turquoise lampshades on dark grey bases, and more darker yellow/amber pillows. Since you already have some pillows you could sew the 2 flowered ones together to make a long pillow and cinch the one in the middle into a smaller, rectangular looking one, maybe recover the white ones with a different shade of yellow.

OR, look for the artwork first and then look for the new/other lamps, etc.

The white in the room is nice with the gray and yellow, and the addition of another cool color would make the room even more inviting, and hopefully cool!

I think the artwork is fine, but the room is sort of sophisticated and I feel the yellow floral pillows don't fit in. They also dominate the art. I would remove them.

Today's bedding is about simplicity.

I know there are mattress pads and comforters that are cooling. I don't know if they are available in Dubai.

Or, you could buy a comforter that is kept folded down below your pillows and not use it at night. In any case, your spread should be folded below your pillows, if you want a more contemporary look.
