Need ideas on how to furnish our living room - we have three kids!

First time poster here! We have been in our first house for just over two years now. It was the first house we saw and we thought we loved it. But over time, we've visited other homes and started to pay attention to the details and attention other friends have put into their homes. And we'd like to do the same. The first thing we did was repaint the walls from a sage type green to a colour which Dulux (& others) call snowfield. We love how much brighter the room is. But we don't know how to furnish it and we've got an open slate (except for the paint colour).

You might see from the pictures that it's an L-shaped room. The kitchen (which we love & is the primary reason for purchasing the home) is at a 90 degree angle to the living room. We want the living room to be the principal room for our children (aged 4, 2 and 4 months) to play in and hang out since we have windows at both ends of the room. We are thinking of installing french doors at the opening of the room from the main foyer, primarily so that we have a sound barrier for the times we have guests over and the kids are asleep. I wanted to insert pocket doors but I think both my painter and contractor have talked me out of it.

I suspect we will have to get a custom made sectional made as we love to have family, church friends and play dates with parents with other young children.

But we are VERY open to ideas on furniture for seating, storing / shelving, colours, etc.

Thanks in advance Houzz readers!
