Agree with Coates Design Architects--this is a very less-than-ideal type of light being emitted from this upside-down fixture. It's not lighting the sink well and certainly won't provide the kind of light you need to look your best!

Since space is at a premium and you can't really do a fixture with a large dome pointing downward, try a fixture with a slender shape. For example, something like...

Why don't you just buy an additional light fixture (same as the one you have) and have them on either side of the mirror in the proper direction (it looks like you would have space on the sides from the picture)? If you don't want to do that, why not install the light the correct direction and just have it overhang the top of the mirror slightly? It appears that the light comes out quite a bit from the wall and there should be enough clearance for the mirror to fit behind the glass globe.

I agree that that light fixture does not work here. Love the blue.

i agree with the person who said to install this and another one on either side of the mirror. People actually look better in side lighting than in top down lighting which causes shadows on the face especially under the eyes. Side lighting is actually the best for applying make up and looking your best!
