I think you use something sleek like metal and glass. These two from Crate and Barrel are very reasonably priced.

Drawers are useful, but may not give you a good look to pair with that sofa. I just moved a coffee table with drawers to the basement and bought one without for a more updated look:) It only took a few days to adjust. Maybe there is a place for a console of some type elsewhere in the room that you could put "stuff" in?
