Bedroom crisis! Brown carpet dilemma...

I am renting and have a mocha brown carpet, cream walls, warm yellow lighting and a dark brown wooden bed frame. The floor space is 5m by 3m and the room has high ceilings and one medium sized window. Please help it's driving me insane. I need a colour scheme and ideas for bedding in particular. Thank you!

I can't tell the room layout but if it is possible to move the bed to another wall or further to the right and away from the window, I would do so. Since the carpet is staying, I have attached some photos of the color scheme I would suggest. It will then appear as though the dark carpet was an intentional decision. I am also suggesting drapes. You said there are tall ceilings. I would take the drapery panels as close to the ceiling as possible. That will add some drama and pull your eyes upward. Add a chrome side table. On the bed, place a brown throw and a mix of blue, cream and brown decorative pillows in varying sizes. Add a few decorative accessories to the furniture surfaces and walls and I think you will love this room!

whats your style? If you like a luxe look I would paint the a rich purple like the one on your bed or a medium dusty purple. Then bring in some bling, crystal lamps mirrored night stands, a tall glass crystal vase with some decorative tall white sticks.

If you like a more casual look and serene look consider a light powder blue.

I think light blues and greens would would work well. Night stands in white. It would make it very earthy.

I'm assuming you can't paint the walls? If that's the case, I'd put pattern on the floor, with a throw rug/s over that brown carpet. if you can go clean and crisp, or layer for a boho effect. Sky's the limit on what kind/patterns. You'll see an instant difference. Then you can build the color and style of your bedding and accessories off of that carpet. As for the walls, designyourwall.com has some excellent, removeable wall tiles/wallpapers.

One more thing: If you get or make some great curtains with the rod extending well past the window (as far to the left side as you can get the rod, and then extend that same amount out from the right), you can help make that window look wider than it is, and help those room proportions.

A great accent wall with the removable wallpaper would be nice. Big giant pattern maybe with silver in it to reflect light around a bit. I would go with the room's quirkiness. Maybe try and find an architectural piece to go over the window. Something old or fun or whatever. I like pale sky blue for that room also. Ignore the browm carpeting and carry on.It is very nuetral and grounding. A shag accent rug in color you like perhaps.

I'd definitely hang the drapes all the way out to the corners and all the way up to the ceiling. It'll make such a nice impact.
