Brown and Cream stuff between carpet and baseboard

Hi,
We have a 1st floor condo. In the bedroom, about a month ago tiny ball like brown and cream colored stuff started showing up between the carpet and the baseboard. I am attaching the picture for reference.

Any ideas on what it could be? And how I can treat it?

The picture is not clear enough or close enough to tell. If it is not dirt, call an exterminator. The only other thing I can think of would be the carpet backing or pad is deteriorating.

Hi Fred, thanks for responding. The padding and the carpet is only a year old. I am hoping to get some answer before I call the professional so I can explain it to them. Hopefully someone has seen this before.

Can you get a closer picture with better light? It is indistinguishable in that photo.

Does it come back if you vacuum thoroughly? In my house, it was ants inside the wall.
