Decorating ideas?

Hey! I'm 17 and I finally get to redo my room and I was looking to put some more bling and make it look a little sophisticated so I was looking for a nightstand/bookshelf to place next to my bed to get rid of the bookcase and also put sconces on either side of my mirror to help when I put my makeup on in the morning, instead of using just my one lamp. I love having my fan because it gets really hot in the summer but it isn't cute so I was hoping if you could give me some ideas on how to make it look better.? Finally, above my shoe bins my scarves currently reside there and I was looking for a cute way to display them. I'm only 5"4' so anything above the shoe bin is out of reach. Thanks a bunch!

Make a collage of frames and fill them with pics of your friends, family and pets. Or use vacation pics.

Sconces require wiring which means an electrician and you don't really have room for them on both sides of the mirror anyway. Why don't you replace the desk with a vanity and hang your mirror there?

Display your scarves on a towel bar hung on the wall (maybe where the mirror used to be).

Bringing some bling in on the sconces flanking the bed would work, but just so you know, there are ceiling fans out there that have bling as well. :)

Budget isn't an issue and the only problem is that I cant move my dresser to where my desk is because it wont fit but I do like the idea of the towel bar for my scarves.. :) I love the fan that you posted! I'll also give the pbteen design tool a look

You can change the light kit on your fan or see if the blades are changeable. They are available in different shapes and colors, or you could bling up your fan blades a little with some craft paint. Your quilt and color choices are very pretty. :)

Tall thin buffet style lamps with pretty shades might provide the extra light you are looking for on your dresser. No wiring required as long as you have an outlet close.

I didn't notice that the picture of my dresser didn't upload so here is the picture and this was the mirror I was talking about to put the sconces on either side. My dad is really good at everything so any electrical work wouldn't be a problem for him

This fan is at Lowes, kind of expensive $300 or so.

Have you asked your dad if he is willing to do this? You will need to move the little unit that your bags are hung from. You have a cute room!

Instead of sconces you could hang pedant lights on either side. No need to do electrical work, just nicely run the wire up the wall and secure it and plug it in. This is cute from Lowes $25.

I got my comforter from pbteen and I was looking at the fan from Lowes and some of the reviews said since it was really large it would look best on ceilings above 8ft. I love the stenciling idea!! Maybe an ivory color with the stencils to go with the grey, blue, and pink.? Sorry I was busy for awhile and meant to comment back earlier...

Ivory would look good with your colors. If you are moving the book case it will open up that area. They have cute inexpensive side tables at Homegoods or Target. I would push the bed over a little-(I know you need access to the drawers) and try to get one on each side. Then that whole wall behind the bed will be the focal point. You can move the bookcase over to where that gold mirror is.

You could also use some nice long drapes. White. You could add a thick band at the bottom maybe like the pink of the headboard.

I was hoping to get rid of the bookcase all together because it takes up lots of space and I end up putting lots of junk on it so I figured I should get rid of it. I had a valence to go above the windows but I hadn't put it back up when I took the pictures.

Here's another bedside table, it's 22 inches wide, probably can't get two in there but the drawer has the circles that are in the dresser mirror.

I'd consider putting the bed in the long way into the corner, and it would be sort of in an alcove. The room will look bigger. (Of course, it depends what's on the other side of that wall, where your head would be, for it to be pleasant for you.) Then I would attach something to the wall -- maybe a king size headboard or a part of a folding screen -- to act as a "daybed." I'd use a small table for "nightstand." I'd attach a counter to the window wall to use as a desk. >>>Thank you for letting me play in your room!!!!!

I like both nightstands very much. The pink one is much more expensive than the little white one. You could paint the drawer front pink on the white one. I was trying to find a clear pearlescent glaze that would give either the pink painted drawer front or the whole nightstand a little more (not a lot - just a nice sheen) glitz but I'm having a hard time! I believe Hobby Lobby or other craft store will have something in their decorative paint section that you can use. The type I'm thinking of comes in little 2 oz. bottles and costs less than $2.00. It can be used on anything that can be painted.
