should my kitchen on east or west

Appreciate very much if I can have some input as to where my kitchen should be.

Option 1: Kitchen is on east side while dining and living room on west side.
Option 2: Kitchen is on west side while dining and living room on east side.

Any comments?

I prefer the kitchen is on east side where I can get morning sun. However, also got comments that kitchen on west side can get not only morning sun but afternoon sun as well. A while day will have light coming in. Not sure which way should go.

Appreciate very much if I can have some input. Thanks.

Depends on if you are a morning person and love the sunlight.

I love morning sun. But someone says that if it is on west side, I can get not only sunlight for a whole day. In winter, will be warm for a whole day, will save energy bill.

If it is on east, I can only get sun in the morning. Not sure whether I should follow the advice. Thanks.

I think it also depends on where you live. I have an east kitchen and enjoy it. I grew up in a west kitchen. My mother hated it because when she cooked it was hot. We live in the south. I love the sun rising the morning and a cup of coffee. But if you would rather watch the sun set at dinner then a west kitchen might be okay.

I love my east kitchen and the morning sun. It's warm and bright on a cold winter morning and not hot in the summer. I prefer having my blinds open in the morning instead of having to keep them closed in the summer to keep the heat out.

Not sure how the house is laid out, but it's possible to have borrowed daylights regardless of which side the kitchen is located.

HI -- I think the kitchen and the front door should face east . If they face a little more south east then the sun is for most of the day .Then you get the morning light and then the kitchen will be cooler for later in the day . For some cultures this is very important . It's also good luck to have the front door facing east .

I think it depends on where you live. In a hot climate, a kitchen on the west side of the house is unbearably warm in the afternoon while preparing the evening meal.

I personally like the kitchen windows on the east side of the house for cheerful morning sunshine.
