If this were my space, i would change the color of the china cabinet and the bases of all of those tables to an off white (behr -swiss coffee-ish). I'd rehang the pictures so that they are more staggered. Possibly paint the frames to get an updated look. Given those changes, the chairs would no longer look so out of place ,but if I was going to pick a color for them, I'd go deep red. Or I'd pull another prominent color from your rugs and play that up. I'd also like to see more lighting in there. For the pillows, i'd pick something bohemian looking. Pier One type floral or patterned and mixed up. I'd go lighter on the lamp shade as well. Really, the space is great - it's just way too dark. My advice is to lighten it up any way that you can. ;)
