Our kitchen will be demolished and a new one will take place. This new kitchen will be painted (Roman Column Sw 7562-Sherwin-Williams) custom made. Since our house has a lot of red Cherry wood (hardwood floor, doors), we were thinking about having a cherry wood counter top with several coats of shellac to protect it from water and scratches. We will not have an Island since the space doesn't permit. We will have a stainless steel farmhouse sink. We think the counter will wrap the rest of the house nicely. We will have tile in the kitchen and the rest of the open area has red cherry wood flooring. We have a red brick wall near by. My question is how come do we not see too many counters like this? Is it just because people are scared off damaging it with water? Or it's because this style is out? I plan to install some industrial pendant lights. I don't know how you call our style but it is certainly not countryish even if we have cherry wood. Our appliances are black which concerns me as well, I hope it won't clash. Choosing red cherry cabinet would have been just too much, I wanted to light things up a bit. What do you think about theses ideas, is there too much going on? Thanks
