The first picture is what is there now, which we will be changing. The second photo is the room that the kitchen flows into, which is light hardwood. Thinking of a pergo/ laminate type floor in the kitchen. No real ideas as of yet

I have light maple cabinets, I found these tiles at Lowes.. I found the outlet covers at Home Depot. They were not quite the right color so I added a little spray paint and wiped most off. Worked perfect. Good luck.

@gottalove and @ debbierx2....beautiful kitchens! I get so tired of hearing people bash oak cabinetry in favor of boring white or trendy grey/espresso. Nice job of updating what you have, both are lovely!

I used a combination of tiled backsplash on one wall, breadboard on others. My home is a Victorian with horsehair plaster so all walls have imperfections.

Ugh! The lighting made photos greenish but the cabinets are BM linen white w/chocolate glaze, breadboard is off white.

The cabinets have a lot of texture, so I'd go with glass tile on the backsplash, ivory/beige or a pale sage green. Love your cabinets and color choices.

Thank you all so much for your input! I am just learning my way around this site & it's wonderful. I love all the suggestions so far, looks like I have my work cut out for me. I knew we were keeping the oak cabinets from the start, I love them. Then came the dark granite, which tied in nicely & that is where we came to a halt trying to figure out backsplash, paint colors and flooring. Think we are going to do a backsplash from the counter up to the bottoms of cabinets and then paint above them and around the rest of the area. Please keep the ideas and photos coming, I am seeing ideas I would not have thought of.
