Since your bed is the focal point of the room, you need contrast on the walls. Look for a paint chip that matches the drapery and add white until you get a color you love. I would also invest in pillows in various sizes and shapes using the shades of the same teal colors to really brighten up your bed. Because your room is narrow, you might want to look for bedside tables in a contrasting finish or with open shelves (really make the bed the star of the room). Matching lamp shades will help balance the space. Place a fun bench at the end of the bed upholstered in a bright fabric or fun print (try shades of orange). Good luck.

Ok I love the suggestions! I was hesistating to go with a tone of teal because I thought it would be too matchy matchy. Also I'd like to add a rug, but where should it be? In front of the bed? Next to the bed? How big should it be?

Unless you can find a rug big enough to go under the bed and almost reach the walls and extend beyond the end of the bed, your best bet is an area rug at the end of the bed. The width of the bed and at least double the width of a bench.

Hi BRandi M, painting the walls teal isn't a bad thing, it is the obvious choice, but not something I would do. I would pull out a subtle tone from the pattern in your drapery. There seems to be a lighter pattern on the drapes which I can't tell from the photos. But if it is a gold tone, that is the colour I would paint your walls. I've attached similar photos of your colour palette, accessorizing with teal and gold silks. Your bedding should compliment the drapes, but doesn't need to be teal. I'd also place an area rug underneath your bed, remember "go big or not at all" comes to mind. I do not agree with a smaller area rug at the foot of the bed. This will amplify that your bed is overwhelming the space, be careful of your proportions. Extend the rug minimum of 3 feet per side, and pull in the gold and teal tones again, maybe with some cream to accent your ceiling colour. Hope the photos help.

I think I would start by moving the bed away from the two windows if possible and the dresser in between the windows. It apears that that wall is to much going on. I believe that a fresh neutral color on the walls would be more appealing and you can accent with great pillows, lamps, bedspread, vases, etc

I think better painted the wall to a bit neutral shade color, but the most important point is.. linking the color of curtain on the others. May put some blue stripe or print on sham or rug. Breaking with some off white though. Think about it:)

Lots of good suggestions above, especially about adding a hanging light. You have the room and it would add lots of drama. It could be a crystal type chandelier or something more streamlined like a drum shade. Your choice.

On the wall color, I'd say you have many options, so long as you tie it in with accent pillows on the bed (or art, lamps, etc). You could go with a warm color, a soft golden or golden tan (Martha Stewart Hickory or Behr Gobi Desert), or a cooler shade like Sherwin Williams Worldly Gray or Tony Taupe. You could do a celery green as a backdrop, SW Shagreen. A touch of orange (as another poster mentioned) always adds interest since it is a color opposite - but in an accessory, not on the wall. The square bed on the angled wall...hmmm...I get that you centered it between the windows, but did you also try it against the wall to the left? Or, if you like it where it is, perhaps you could do a coffee, buttercreme or robin's egg blue to around seven or eight feet on all of the walls (whatever your ceiling height is on the right wall), giving you back a horizontal line around the room that won't make the bed look tipsy, and then your ceilings can soar without making the beautiful bed work so hard to get along with your architecture.

Take a look at a peacock feather to pull your colors together; you'll see browns, blues and greens that you can sprinkle around the room through art, bedding, accessories, and plants. In fact, did your Pier 1 have the teal peacock feather wreath over the holidays that I just saw on clearance locally?

Just make sure that if you go this bold, you keep a fair amount of white/neutrals to keep the look from getting cartoony. Think watercolor versions of peacock hues. Please post your results!

I tried the bed in the right corner but it was too big for that corner (I did it catycorner -- is that how you spell that??!?!?!?) The bed is a California King.

I'm going with a taupe on the bed wall and a dark color on the other three. I THINK!!! LOL Its just paint -- I can always change that right???

I would add light print color from panels as a comforter. Don't try to match panels. Layer your comforter putting yours now, at foot. And lighter one. Folded back on top. You could get teal sheets. Get pillow shames in same as new comforter, add pillows. A teal solid shag area rug at foot of bed and pull under bed 1/2 way. 8x10 should work. Walls color from panels, same as comforter.

New matching lamps. Base a brass and cream shades drum style. Tall. Remove clutter. Center lamps on night stands.
