need help with wall and wainscoting color

I have a chocolate brown sofa and steel grey loveseat/chair. I would love a grey-ish room... Should I go paint the wainscoting white or light grey? All the same color? What colors would you suggest?

You could paint all the woodwork a light gray for a custom look, white or creamy white for more traditional look. It's also easy and relatively inexpensive to cover the brick on the fireplace with limestone tiles.

Consider painting the bricks instead and leave the trimwork and wainscoting as they are.

Paint the brick dark grey and the walls a pale warm grey. Keep the wainscoting (it's part of the house's character).

I love the wainscoting, would definitely choose a darker gray though, I think it would compliment the wainscot and brick better. Do the fan blades flip over to a wood tone...otherwise I'd update that, it would look much nicer.

Here are three different looks for you. The one thing I would paint for sure is the crown--same color as the ceiling. I never understand why people want to divide their walls and ceiling with a thick dark line.
