I think you could probably do two loveseats, but I would have the facing each other perpendicular to the fireplace instead of one facing the window, perhaps.

I like your hardwood floors. Can you tell me the color, size, & manufacturer? Also, there are too many end tables lined up against the wall. I would put the two chairs with a table in the center of them across from the couch. I would put an end table on each side of the couch to remove all that furniture that is straight up against the wall. That table in front of the window would look good behind the couch as a sofa table. By moving the furniture around, it will make the room cozy and intimate without having to buy new furniture. You have some nice pieces that could look wonderful by changing the set up of the room. I hope these suggestions help. I look forward to hearing what floors you have.

Three main suggestions to enhance the “cozy factor”: tighten up the seating arrangement so you can have a conversation without shouting, put some color on the walls (try a warm “greige” taupe-- it goes with everything) and create groupings of art and accessories to create focal points rather than spread everything out. Loveseats tend to be awkward—too squishy for two. It looks like you can rotate the sofa and rug 45 degrees (facing whichever direction you walk into the room) and place a pair of chairs and a small end table opposite, and still have enough room to walk comfortably by (3’ minimum). Anchor that long wall with your drop-leaf table or narrow desk/console and a collage of art between the sconces only—in fact, I’d consider updating those fixtures with a more modern/simple iron style with shades, to coordinate with your coffee table. This wall table is a good place to display a variety of accessories, fresh greenery, and a lamp, then lean another piece of art or mirror against the wall for a layered effect. Maybe tuck a large woven basket beneath it to hold books or lap blankets. We can't see the opposite wall... is there a TV and/or fireplace here? Keep the rest of the room clean. Remove that gangly photo easel (tripping hazard!), extra tables, and any other clutter to enhance relaxation. The upholstery looks a little dated but linen-look slipcovers are in style, and may be a cozy option to new pieces. Have fun!

Get a new sofa and 2 identical chairs. Place the sofa where you have yours now, but put a tall table behind it and place all the photos on it instead of the walls. Or, place all the pictures on one of the tables against the wall. Place the 2 chairs together to the left of the sofa, facing the windows, so it forms an "L". You should be able to fit another chair (different style from others) in the other corner at an angle.

Get a larger piece of art above the sofa. This art should be the focal point and should be large and dramatic. The sconces look "fussy". I would remove them.

Get a much larger area rug and make sure all the furniture is pulled in tight to create a conversation area in the middle of the room. Right now all your furniture is too far away from each other. Make sure there's enough room to walk behind all the chairs and furniture you have against the walls.

I like the easel, but put art on it, not a photo. It looks like a memorial display from a funeral home.

It looks like your trying to fill every space in the room with pictures and furniture. Try grouping things together to create areas of interest.

Most of your furniture is beautiful, so it won't take much to pull the room together.

If you decide to have a garage sale you will make a TON of money cleaning this space out. The room has amazing space and light that makes it both cozy but not confining. Are the pieces currently there yours or did you inherit them? If you give an idea on what styles you like then you can go from there but definitely a sleeker space with less tchokies. Keep the seating area simple with just a sofa and maybe 2 chairs and a coffee table. I like the Mitchell Gold+Bob Williams line and z Gallerie has these wonderful nail head chairs that make a statement. I am not a fan of your area rug but would go with something over sized in a neutral pattern. Also consider painting the room a brighter color with maybe a bold accent wall. Also unless there is a bird in the bird cage then I would paint it (turquoise maybe) and repurpose it to you yard as a topiary cage. I don't know how to upload photos but I saw a room that would make you swoon and it sorta resembles the dimensions of your space. Have fun.

Well, I think I would approach this room differently. Your walls need color, you need beautiful drapes, you need a larger area rug and to remove most of the furniture in that room. The problem with the two love seats facing each other is that most likely, the back of one of them, will be facing you as you enter the room, which is not very inviting. I would probably place the other love seat by the window with a nice coffee table and perhaps a chair on the other side to make this room more cohesive. Try to do groupings of items you want to display, I tend to keep those to a minimum. Hope it helps!!

I agree with Gorgeous Homes on the larger area rug, light colored drapes with an interesting pattern and more wall color. I would pair that with a lighter ceiling so the room doesn't lose its light feel. I wouldn't use love seats because you almost never get more than one person sitting on them - cozy chairs are better and more flexible in terms of positioning. I also would get a larger coffee table and new end tables for the sofa. The current end table height would be fine if they were round but look too "stilted" by the sofa arms. Maybe they could go between chairs or somewhere else in the room or house? If your sofa is still comfortable I'm not sure you need to change it, just add a throw and some pillows with pattern and color to spruce it up. When rearranging your art I would also look at lighter mat colors, especially if you go with a richer wall color. I agree that a larger piece of art would be good and then a grouping of photographs. Your furniture reconfiguration helped a lot!

Thank you everyone. We decided to get a new sofa and a couple of overstuffed chairs. The sofa we have now is is damaged due to our cats. We'll get sofa and chais with arms high enough so that we can use the tables we have. I also like the idea of the accent wall. Once we decide on the new furniture we can make decisions on colors for walls and pillows, etc. Also plan on adding a larger picture for the walls. You all have been so helpful with suggestions that allowed me to see possiblities that I couldn't see on my own. This will be a work in progress.

It looks like you have a good feel for the direction you are going now but my only caution would be to think through your color scheme before purchasing the new sofa and chairs unless you are going to go completely neutral on those! Good luck and enjoy the process!

Instead of purchasing a larger art piece for above the sofa, I would just group all of your other art and photos together in that space and make a gallery wall. All of your small pieces together will give the feel of a single large piece but you won't have to buy anything new or get rid of anything you already have. The way you currently have them in a line that bends around a corner feels very cluttered. Lay everything out on the floor first to get them the way you want them before you hang them. It doesn't matter if the frames match, it is the layout that is important.

There are so many wonderful suggestions written already, but I always think a mirror adds light to any room.

I also agree that the artwork hung around the room is a little cluttered. A grouping would be great, or re-framing in larger matching frames.

New pillows for the couch would look great. I would also try to eliminate some of the extra furniture. You have several groupings of small pieces together.
