Suggestions for a fireplace trim detail. I am stumped on a modern look, stone finish clean line. Also unsure as to hearth options. Flooring will be a wood laminate walls soft white.

I did my fireplace a couple of years ago and these picture are 3 of about a hundred photos I found online for inspiration. Don't know where they came from - sorry.

This picture is my fireplace. The tiles are black quartzite and the hearth is limestone. The contractor skim-coated the bottom portion and was going to tile it, but I liked the way it looked, so I left it. I'm not sure if it's cement, but it looks like it.

Hey Emily. Nice suggestion to my fireplace. I hadn't seen that picture and like it. As my chimney is fluted I wonder how it would look with the patial mantle when the stack section is narrower than the flame chamber?

Grey slate would look nice on the bottom portion and you could use a solid piece for the mantle and hearth.

For the top portion, you could drywall and paint it the same color as the walls, or a coordinating color pulled from other items that will be in the room. Or, use a coordinating color stone.

I am really liking the smoother brick. I agree with the colour suggestion of slate. The prefab brick is nice but will be common quick. Any idea where your slate like suggestion comes from?

Roger - I came across this photo of a fireplace that reminded me of yours. It's a nice example of what yours could look like with the top portion painted the same as the walls.
