Should I move the table to the left and put the chair on the right?

have the line of whatever is there follow the angle of the stairs going up from left to right. I think the curve of the wall is so lovely, you don't need much there.

It depends on how big the rest of the area is. If it is only big enough to serve as an attractive pass through then no chair. I would decorate the stair risers with some decorative panels consistant with the style of the house. Then maybe add a more eye catching vignette to the table. A sterling silver clock. Some photos, etc. If it is big enough to hold a chair then go for it.
