It really comes down to personal taste. As a molding manufacturer we, of course, prefer not to paint hardwoods such as cherry but then again since you have since updated your kitchen and like the look of keeping everything white then that is more than fine.

Paint it! I know it's not the norm today, but, we painted our crown molding in a flat matte finish to honour the tradition of plaster moulding. I like it, it's a little more subtle and our ceilings are just over 8 feet high. We used the same paint color as our trim throughout the house, Benjamin Moore Cloud White.

Paint the same as the walls but leave it above the cabinets.

Since your baseboard trim is white and so are your doors, I would paint it white.
