Definitely something simple in a solid color, white. To make it easier to install, you can get a 1 x 2 subway tile on mesh. Be sure whatever you do, it doesn't compete with that salt 'n pepper granite.

Take a look at Grass green, auburn, stormy blue or white handmade ceramic tiles. As has been mentioned subway shaped tiles are classic and will stand the test of time & trend.

Wow! I'M SO JEALOUS! Love your cabinets and countertop choices. Stay with a lighter color for your back splash, white, cream, light beige. Glass or ceramic tiles in a light color you can't go wrong. What are you doing with the floors.

Thanks! The floors are hardwood and prob a medium/darker stain. Nothing crazy, pretty basic. We were thinking the glossy white for backsplash since cabinets and counter are a bit darker. Any suggestions for what to do over stove under hood?

Subway tile has a classic and clean look and I'm definitely seeing it much more these days when I show homes that have recently been renovated.

Is there a way to do it with the grout as white or does grout naturally have a darker color to it? Trying for a modern/clean kitchen.

Make sure the Brilliant Bright White doesn't make sure countertop look dingy. :)

I like the idea of having something different above the stove. But, I do not feel it is necessary. Unless, you 're looking for something that would be easier to clean because you do get a lot of splashing of grease, etc. from the stove. Also, I love the glass tile for a backsplash in almost any shape subway, mosiac etc. If you are learning towards the white subway, that would be beautiful too. Here is a picture of something I like for a backsplash maybe just a little lighter. This is very similar to your kitchen colors which did I mention I love.

The picture to the right is really similar to yours and I love, love the backsplash. This would look great with your cabinets and granite. What do you think? Also, the same tile is used all over the kitchen even above the stove or cooktop.
