Our ceiling is 15' at the peak. it's over the kitchen/dining room. We were planning on clear coat pine, like the porch ceiling (see photo) but it's not working for me, as it feels too light and i'm not liking the knots & etc. Though pine is cost effective, it doesn't stain well, so am asking what other kinds of wood are typically used in these applications.
