2 pieces of art on either side of the tv is a great idea. Some art ideas:

if you have photos from your travels or photos you have taken, enlarge them and frame them, it adds a bit of a conversation piece too.

I just did a similar application with artwork hung to the right and left of the television and I love it. The key is to play with the height. It needs to not compete with your beautiful archway and not be the same height of the television. In my situation I hung one large picture to the left and one to the right which would also be an option for you. I would mount the artwork a little lower than the gal did above so that the space above the television doesn't look void.

The artwork is also an opportunity to bring some fun color into the room. Right now the eye rests on the orange pillows and with the addition of artwork it will carry the eye around the room.

What I would like to see for you in your room is something that reflects your personality, or your DH's personality, or your family's personality. Your room says you have excellent taste, now use your art to say more than that. I've collected these works from various sites, though they are all artists who sell on etsy -- not because I think you have to like any of them, but because all would work in the position you are looking at in this room, and each one says something definite about the person who would choose it. That's what you should be looking for: first, do I (we) absolutely love it, and second, is this the right room to hang it in? First is first, second is second. Don't let anything slip through to the second test until it's passed the first -- and that also applies if, for instance, you should decide to go with four small prints or whatever, as suggested above.

Love the cat. But i think the cabinet should really be a dark colour. That white really jumps out, even when balanced by the cat.
