Wood railing color stain?

I have a contemporary wood railing from 1978 in my kitchen that overlooks a sunken family room. My kitchen floor is black, the walls are gray and my kitchen set is light oak and the chairs are black and trimmed in light oak. Should the railing be stained a natural oak or stained black?
