Update on Large Orange Sectional. Need some suggestions!

We finally got the sectional this week and placed it how I had imagined it, however, still feels a bit crowded to me. I have the option of taking the chaise off and adding in a single seat on the end - so 3 seats, corner, 3 seats. We'd like to keep the two brown chairs since that's what we sit in mostly to watch TV. I also need suggestions on furniture placement and where to place proper lighting (lamps). The first view in the pictures is when you walk through the front door. I'm trying to do a rustic modern look - we like rustic, but clean lines.

Some things you should know. We are going to do a remodel of the kitchen and that includes removing the carpeting in the great room to wide plank wood flooring (so that taupe carpet will be gone). We are also working with a lighting designer to bring in more light from above as well as make the windows on either side of the fireplace into glass doors and larger for better scale and light. A new front door is also on order with glass inset for more natural light. We are also getting a custom fireplace screen to better fit that large opening. Lastly, I'm open to any suggestions on the decor, etc.

Did some updating and rearranging. Please excuse the messes (coats/ironing board,etc.). I'm considering a metal sliver slim table next to the chaise instead of the round table. We are still holding on our entertainment area and the area under the picture (next to kangaroo) will be a pull out dining table/buffet. I've also ordered some fabric for more color/texture with pillows on sectional and chairs.

I would remove the stand alone ottoman. It makes the crowded space worse. Seems that the current arrangement is awkward for TV viewing. If so, how about flipping the current plan so that the sectional faces the TV. Lovely house and I like where you are going with the re-do.

We did consider switching the sectional around, but really like having a table to put our drinks on and not sure how we would address that.

Could you us the the trunk?/small box currently under the window in the first picture at the chaise end of the sectional, keep the round table at the other end and place a tray on the ottoman?

Yes. I also have a couple of small round tables that might work better than the trunk.

A sofa table behind the sectional would also serve as a landing place for decorative objects and drinks. Not unlike the beautiful arrangement on your far wall with the great art and perfect arrangement.

I think the size is fine, but I'd remove the little hassock - just puts the orange over the top and introduces another fabric. Use a coffee table instead. I think entering the space would be better if you can put a sofa table behind that center section of the sofa. Have you tried turning the sofa and putting the pair of chairs on the opposite side? That would help alleviate the blocked up feeling. I wish your chairs were swivels, so they could turn to watch TV when placed nearer it. What is going on with the split mantel? I'd like to see it extend all the way across. You could use some additional metal to break the dull feeling and lack of texture and pattern. If your lamp bases are metal, they are not on the warm side of the spectrum like the furnishings. Brass is making a comeback. Consider metal for coffee table, new lamps, fire tools. What will your firescreen look like? This screen isn't big enough, but consider something similar, with a bit of distinction in the design. Are you doing window treatments? I think roman shades, or mock ones if you want to keep the windows open, would add a good soft feeling that is missing in the overall scheme. Once the new door is in the foyer/entry will need some work. Consider placing a patterned upholstered bench on the wall where you now have the round mirror. For now I'd hang the mirror above the piano instead of the sculptural piece.

Hi! Looks like you have a lovely place and are off to a great start! I think that I would take the chaise off for sure to create more room. I would also consider getting a different rug that brings more light to the area. Here are a few suggestions:

Very nice home. I would go with a seat instead of a chaise and I also would get a coffee table instead of that ottoman.
