Does the base have to be metal? If you could go with wood base, check out the Naguchi coffee table which is not exactly round but sort of ameoba-like. It comes with a variety of wood bases but not metal.The original would cost thousands, but the knock-offs are identical and cost less than $500. There is even a smaller version I found on inmod.com. This may be worth your checking out.
