Complete bathroom"s" overhaul - help get us out of the 70's

We have a big bathroom dilemma. Our house is a rambler built in the 70's with the traditional super small 70's master bathroom - seriously it's less than 5 by 8 feet! The other bathroom, currently used by our children, is a generous size at roughly 8x9 feet. We'd like to do a complete remodel of both bathrooms and ideally squeeze in a walk-in/reach-in closet accessible from the master bathroom. We want to keep a tub in the hallway bathroom but have a generous shower in the master bathroom and definitely a vanity bigger than the 19 x 29 inch vanity I have now! Ugh. The overall size of the space we have to work with is 14' by 11.5'. We are racking our brains on trying to come up with a good layout. What are some common mistakes that I should avoid? We are do-it-yourselfers but in this case maybe we may need some design assistance? Are there designers that will just draw up a design for us and if so, what does that typically cost?
