D's Kaffeeklatsch*

last modified: 12 years ago
Hi, fellow Houzzers! I thought this might be a nice place for a chat. Need a place to unwind after a day of arduous houzzing and planning someone else's furniture rearranging? This is the place. Come talk about your day, tell some stories or vent a bit. It's always open and ready to listen. Post a joke, funny pic, great video or just stop by to say hi. Remember we are on a public forum and "one size does not fit all" as we are all individuals with our own opinions. ~D

R is 8 hrs ahead, Bu. It's 7:08 pm now. Not much time to get all our snacks and spirits together! I've got buffalo chicken wings in freezer and a wine slush we didn't get to on Christmas!

    Take care, B. ((Hugs))

Such a relaxing way to tour Paris. Thank you. And with my fav tour group. Perfect.
B, what some of us here say is "Sterkte". Strength. But more so. You'll be fine, babe.

I'm getting soft. I just liked all your comments.

Glenn Miller on the radio. Can you believe it? Now there's a New Year's Eve party. Was it jive in that area, or jitterbug? You guys invented it, whatever it was. Pre-jitterbug? Then what was it? Maybe it was called dancing.
If you want me in a puddle, play me "Fascination". Which is what my little radio is doing right now.
You want a giggle? Some young man, full of life and ready for a ball, phoned the radio station this morning saying he was new to Johannesburg and wanting to find out where the joint would be jumping tonight. Next thing a rather peripheral religious group phoned and said that they would be having an event starting at seven, at which they would review the achievements of the year, and from nine there would be music.

I so don't think that's what he was looking for. I do hope he got sorted, there is soooo much going on in this town tonight.

Do you know how it kills me that YouTube won't let me hear anything when this is available? Hope you have better luck.

Sweetiepies, it's getting a bit late for me, even on New Year's Eve. Nobody has asked me to dance the fandango. Or the tango. Or the mango. So I think I may go home in a huff, and go to bed.

    Yes of course alone. Humph.

Happy New Year everybody. Remember my suggestion of a wish for someone else? Please make one before midnight. Keep it a secret, just make it.
Rina, I have a bushel full of wishes for each of you. (Shhh.)

    Happy New Year!

I posted another of these a few moments ago but it insisted you wanted to see other cities at the same time. This one has, as far as I can hear, which is barely, strange music. But oh the lights are pretty. Sydney. 2015.

    Happy New Year, Rina!
I must say, from messing with the other site, other displays are worth watching too -- check out Dubai, for instance. But man, look at that opera house. Can't believe I was ever there, but I was. One of those things that happened 'instead', Ali.

Good night all. See you next year.
Good night, Rina. Wake up to a brand new year full of hope and happiness. :)
    Happy New Year everyone!
Hi, PV. Happy New Year to you as well. How are the head cold people?? Any better. I read where your mom had a few nips of alcohol, probably not a bad idea! Perhaps a hot toddy is in order?
Wow, it's quiet today, everyone must be busy with New Year Eve plans!! Have fun, I will chat later!
D, lol....mom didn't try to walk in her sleepy stupor. Her throat is very sore and her voice is raspy. She's been in bed all day. Older son isn't as miserable so he's out howling tonight.

    Have a Happy New Year!
PV, glad your son is feeling well enough to partay!!

I certainly hope to have a great new year. :)
THREAD CLOSED!!! Thanks for visiting and may peace and love find you on the beginning of this new year. :)

Oh my. A happy New year to Everyone. I am swamped with family, no time to say more that hi. Can we start a new thread for 2015? The 2015 Kaffeeklatsch?

Ali, you need to write a book. If it is too tiring for you, you need to find a tape recorder and talk your book. What an amazing wealth of experiences!
    Hey, all! Checking back in.
I was just this minute thinking about you, Jen!! We've started a new thread in "Other"...The Gathering: Chapter 2... Come join in the hilarity!
    Hello D.!
Only just caught up on this thread.
Hello, myperfectadvice! Whereas I am happy you have caught up on here, I closed this thread the first of the year! It had run its course since it had been going since last March. We have all gravitated now to The Gathering Place where bubbasgma is the OP( original poster ). A little different vibe on there but a perfect chat spot, too. Unfortunately, Houzz does not delete closed threads on a regular basis so that is why it still exists. :)
    Yes D.
I have been apart of that thread....enjoy it muchly.
    OK....thnx for letting me know.

One large young lady was dressed in yards of emerald green chiffon, embellished with little Swarovsky emeralds, and wore a diamond and emerald necklace and earrings such as the Queen of England wears to State occasions, bless her. I must ensure I have bling clothes for the next occasion. it seems to be mandatory.

Merry Christmas, Everyone! I'm wondering if anyone can scroll back further than Dec 25, 2014? All I get is an error message. :(

Ali had posted an amazing "Silent Night" cello solo for me last year, I would so love to listen to it again. I've searched and searched and can't seem to find the youtube link for it. I think it was on this thread? xoxoxo

Bubba's, I fund this one on the Gathering that she posted...not Silent Night yet. I ned to scoll further down. I don't know why I can start earlier on in that thread than here. This one won't let me go back on my tablet but someone once said that you can from a desk top. Anyway, here's this one to start

Thank you for trying, Buzz! I'm on a laptop and can't get further back than 12/25/14. I can remember the conversation so clearly, I told Ali that the most beautiful Christmas song I ever heard was Silent Night played on a cello, but could never find a youtube of one. Before I knew it, she posted one. I'd been looking for YEARS, and she (Our Google Queen) worked her magic fingers in minutes! Hahaha! Gosh....I miss her sooooo much! I can still hear her laugh!

Hmmmmm....I wonder if it was in an email, and not on Houzz? I should look there in the morning!!!

    Merry Christmas, B!

I do remember that conversation, she was magic. It was the perfect one for you. Was it Piano guys? I think not but here's them doing it.

I think you should check the Gathering for that date/time frame. I can get much further on that thread, it seems

She adored the Piano Guys, and introduced us to them if I'm remembering correctly. But in my mind the video was footage of someone playing.

This one is the closest to the rendition I heard with my Dad in-person all those years ago. Thank you, Buzz!

Dear friends, I wish you all blessings and smiles. Tough year here, but I know better days await us all. Hugs.

Bubba, could this be the Silent Night you're looking for?
Of course, this link is not responding but it's from 2Cellos. They are two young men from Croatia and have performed with Elton John. I think Ali did talk about them at one point. The only Silent Night I find from The Piano Guys features Placido Domingo and it is beautiful but not just instrumental obviously. :)

I was able to hear this....absolutely gorgeous...

Just last week borrowed a cello made by a friend, and finally as Christmas winds down, I was able to sit down last night and try to figure it out. Got to where I could play three hymns in two octaves and one could even recognize them! :/ (I'm laughing at myself.)
