Comments (72)Kentucky Haze seems not quite blue green enough - love the muted quality but the darker tones are pure blue - same problem. What about heavenly blue http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/heavenlyblue or yarmouth blue HC-150 http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/yarmouthblue You won't know til you see them in your home in your light. If you buy little sample pots and paint them on foam core so you have a big enough piece, you can carry them around the room to see them in natural and nighttime lighting / against all your things and select before you invest. You always want to start with several shades because the reflections off existing things alone can make a color different on the walls. You can always mix your samples you don't use for the furniture piece you want to do and add enough craft paint in a strong tone to get the color you want. Good luck!...See MoreFireplace makeover
Comments (14)The hearth is the big brick thing in the front of the fireplace. It was originally designed to catch flying embers from the fireplace, when wood would spit them out. It is definitely necessary if it is a wood fireplace, however not the whole width of the room. Now, I would try to peek around all sides of it, and see if it was done that way to hide something, like HVAC or something. If it is just dead space, that means there is framing under there, and brick was wrapped around it. Just something to think about removing. I do like the picture that groveraxle submitted. However, knowing that you have children and must love storage space, perhaps the base cabinets to each side with upper shelving might be more purposeful. At this point in your life (with the kiddos growing up), build in anything that helps in organization and remove the odd pieces. The couch is still very useful, and i can see why you like it....See MoreShould we mount the tv I the corner?
Comments (13)OMG Susan, you get so combative and defensive on all posts. Sometimes your ideas are not that great or need augmentation. The room is narrow, bad idea giving the back of the sofa upon the room's entrance. That is all a person will see when entering the room. It will be more visually pleasing in the back of the room. The sofa doesn't have to touch the wall on the farther end. I was aware that a heater is located under that window as well. Look, a sofa does not have to touch the wall: BTW, a couple of stools or ottomans can replace the chairs as well. They won't take up a lot of visual space either, while adding additional seating, foot rest, or a coffee table (just add a tray on top to put cups down)....See MoreTV over the fireplace. Yes or No?
