If your planning on doing a European style kitchen like you have in the picture, I would go with a laminate version of wenge, it will be more consistent in color. if you are looking for more of a traditional cabinet style yes you would probably do well with using real wenge. but any qualified painting contractor should be able to glaze and stain to make it all look the way you want in that regard.

Wenge is a very dark wood. It would not be stained dark because it is already dark. You have probably been shown panga panga,sometimes called white Wenge, not the same wood.

You can always stain Wenge and you can bleach Wenge and stain over the bleached wenge and achieve a wide array of color and tones, and since Wenge is a natural wood, it can differ from a tree to tree or a veneer leaf to veneer leaf.

Thanks! I tend to prefer veneer to laminate for that real wood feel...I'll ask them to apply a stain then.

Not all woods will take the stain as dark as you want so make sure you get some samples before starting this project. Ikea has a color and style called Ramsjo that you might like.
