How about adding a pole above the doors and hanging a single panel of textured opaque fabric pulled back to the right hand side? Make the panel about 2 widths wide. Edge it in a flat banding with some embroidered pattern. Check out Samuel & Sons for trim. To the left of the doors hang a single woven object like a handmade twig basket. Smaller in size like 8"-10" wide x 14"-16" tall and no deeper than 3". This will balance the composition, trim the view, and finish the Breakfast area without weighing it down. If this does not appeal to you, try placing a collection of objects like plates, trays and so on across the top of the doors before installing a valance. Also, another concept would be to install a shelf edged in crown moulding above. Use this to hold similar objects. Be sure to anchor them to the wall so that they appear to be standing on the shelf but are secure.

I would choose a rather simple tailored valance with no fringe.

Trim could be really nice if it is a subtle trim (see the first shot below of a nice valance with trim). A clean cornice board could also be a great choice. Below is a photo of a cornice we just did for a client to give you a sense of how fun the fabrics are right now as well as a photo of a hard cornice over a large window to give you a sense of how they impact a space.
