It looks like you have a country flare. Maybe switch it up to french country. Take down hanging pans, leave pendant lights. Paint cabinets a french vanilla with a burnt umber stain, which will give your cabinets a look a custom furniture. You could even doo= bead board under the island cabinet. A darker floor would be beautiful.

go lighter, change the lighting, that will be a huge change... something younger, fresher, please see attached...

I'm a little worried to paint cabinets. All of my trim and doors throughout my whole house is maple. I'm afraid it won't match. Opposite my kitchen is a big maple built in.
