I would say the rest of her house is traditional. Just talked to her and she says traditional because the rest of her house is traditional and it wouldn't look right as anything else. She can answer more when she finds the site.

How much can she afford? If she's on a budget, you can get nice laminate for $30 sq ft with a Karran undermount sink that has a 50 year warranty.

I think she can afford stone or a composite but not sure what color or what is out there.

This is my kitchen. I do not have a particular budget in mind but I am willing to pay for stone (granite, quartz, etc.). I would like to remove the backsplash and possibly add stone, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

I often specify granite for my client's and go to slab yards with them to choose it. Quartz like Silestone also has some amazing products now. That needs to be chosen and actually purchased before going on to all the other surfaces. The slab color and style is going to dictate the rest of the backsplash and paint colors It will be number 1 priority. :)

Not sure what's wrong with the backsplash. I think I'd do the counter/sink/faucet and then worry about the backsplash. (I know the existing backsplash may be somewhat damaged when removing the laminate counter.)

Does anyone agree with me that she should keep white counters or something light only in stone because she isn't changing her white appliances and white goes with her cupboards also. I'm her Mom.
