Would you use the 100 watt bulb described in a max 60W lamp? Also, does the silver crown impede reading? And does the lamp work equally well with an LED or other energy-saving bulb? it appears that the top of the bulb extends beyond the shallow shade, which might create glare if there is no silver.

My mistake, it would be a 60 watt not a 100 watt bulb. I mistyped. Here is some more information : The silver tipped bulbs avert the direct light out to the sides, creating a light with less glare- they look cool and retro as well—The lamp will work with a regular bulb, or socket appropriate cfl bulb, or Edison based led bulb, but the hi lo dimming would not work the same with the cfl ( unless it is a dimmable bulb) or led. It won’t be really a lot of glare, but it would be brighter with a normal non silver tipped bulb. Thank you!

Will these provide bright light for someone reading with less than perfect vision? Can they be easily adjusted so that 2 people can sit on each side and align the light as they need to?

This lamp will work with a variety of bulb types, so I suggest picking the one that works best with your vision. The manufacture provides a 60 watt 120V A19 E26 Silver Crown Bulb. The other bulb types that will work are; regular 60 watt bulb, socket appropriate cfl bulb, or Edison based led bulb.

Great question about two people using this lamp! The arms have a maximum adjustment of 120 degrees, so again that would be a personal preference.
