I agree that coral and cream tones with possibly a little black outlining abstract flowers or paisley would be beautiful for floor to ceiling draperies and brought out in sofa pillows and throws.

Haven't followed your post in a while but have to say that I love love love the gold table lamp. Beautiful room and will have to watch for the new chandelier!

Sara, I didn't realize the plates were hung separately. Part of what makes this arrangement work is achieving balance within the asymmetry. Three plates would require some rearranging. Let me see if I can make it work. Back in a bit.

Your room is really coming along. The only suggestion that I can add is that I would think about painting the wainscoting area all in the classic creamy white. It would add another layer of classiness to the space.

Yeah, I think it works. I lowered the plates a bit. I might even like it better this way.

I don't think you need color. It ties in nicely with the living room art (did you ever lower it?) and the shine on the plates gives enough of a wow.

I like the lamps you found and then you wouldn't have to worry about using books to elevate them.

Agree with Ann. Like the lamps, chair is too tall, art is good.

White or cream walls, patterned draperies or curtains with some teal in the fabric, pillows and a vase in teal, maybe an area rug, and definitely some art.

What about that fabric on a different ( less high ) chair ?

I think I'd go with the dining room stuff and the lamps and then re-evaluate. I'd hate to see this beautiful room get cluttered.

Your teal is very muted, so you could easily hang a painting with a little deeper tone and then pick up favorite colors in the painting as accent color on the sofa. A few suggestions below. Thanks ann! Yeah- I like the light one but didn't know if it would be lost on a white wall. In contrast, I didn't know if the blue one felt sad/ dark. Art is never close to us or is pick them up and return the one I didn't like. I found these near a store while visiting my parents over the holiday. It's 5.5 hours from our home so it makes me more hesitant. Driving back tonight and am gonna draw out the dimensions and place my phone with the pics on the wall. I like the bottom piece of floor furniture too but want to make sure it doesn't make it difficult to walk around the table and push chairs in and out. My 4 yr old also uses the dining room table to run around like it makes a track, so ya know, ygotta weight the important stuff :-)

Don't get the furniture if it will crowd the room as you could just decorate the wall and that would be all that is needed. Although, without furniture, you'd want bigger art and probably square or horizontal art.

I know someone who has a grandfather's clock there near stairs.

I like the buffet and art, but you are right to measure. Those corners could really slow down a track star! :)

Have you considered painting your walls above the 'wainscoting'? Choosing a complementary color, such as orange would really be beautiful It would accent the wainscoting while bringing the blue out in the couches.

I would suggest that you keep the white trim parts of the wainscoting white and paint the wall surfaces between the trim a pale yellow, like a lemonade or primrose shade. Then, paint the walls above the wainscoting a bright white to contrast from the teal and yellow and tie in with the white trim of the wainscoting. For some real "punch," paint the ceiling a teal shade that is one or two shades darker or brighter than your sofas. Add some throw pillows or throw pillow covers in a fairly bold floral print that includes white, lemon yellow, and medium or bright teal as accessories to tie the color scheme together.
