Why "don't sell it"?

I would remove the hutch top and paint the buffet blue;)

Imagine a black exterior and a gorgeous teal for the interior.

We see empty room. What is your style? Modern, traditional, bohemian..... ? You may incorporate this hutch into many styles with different paint and right decor.

I agree with chemayne. Keep it. Paint the outside one color and the inside another. It will totally change the look of the piece. It can look modern or you can distress it if you want it to look more rustic.

Keep it! That kind of history is hard to come by. Painting it two different colors could add a new life to it and you can customize it to your own personal style. Best of luck!

That is stunning the way it is. Sell it if you don't like it. I'm not opposed to painting wood furniture, but we're talking mahogany here.

This is so beautiful- I would definitely incorporate it in the kitchen by leaving out some kitchen cabinets and replace it with this hutch, especially if the kitchen is in white or any neutral tone.

Paint it an antique white! It would looks so gorgeous in an off white with a duck egg back for a pop of color!! That is what I am planning on doing with an older armoire!!

I would paint it a warm shade of gray, but I agree that we're kind of giving advice in a vacuum without more of your style. It seems like a useful and elegant piece, providing both storage and decoration on a diningroom wall, so I'd keep it too but remove the decorative bits on the top to modernize it up a bit.

Call a pro to do the painting and really think out the color/colors.

Sorry...it is so beautiful the way it is. Make it the centerpiece of the room. Gold interior could step it up a notch without painting the exterior.

I, too, would remove the decoration on the top and even on the windows. Then I would paint it to coordinate with your home and have a blast accessorizing it! Especially now, with seasonal items, you will have a show case in your home. Many decorating blogs use pieces just like this....love them!

Sell it. Why paint an expensive wood like mahogany?
