Zoysia grass was used between the step stone. It is sun and shade tolerant. Thanks.

What a great idea! I live in South Texas, and have 2.5 acres of "native" grass - it greens right up after rain, but this idea would satisfy my need for green close to the house, and would conserve our precious water resources.
