Do you have any details on the island construction

I planned to do an 8 ft island with two ft base cabinets on one end and two pedestal legs on the other end. With 6 ft of granite open underneath for seating. My GC is now worried the granite would have enough support in the seating area and wants to add another set of legs which we don't want as it would rule out being able to fit another set of chairs. I could use some help to show him how granite can be supported. Thanks

This island is 10' long and we used legs only on either end. We did major support cross beams on the underside the full length of the island. If your contractor is concerned he could always add steel supports on the underside to support the granite.
