1920 Craftsman renovation. Baseboards are 8" tall, made of gum wood. Question: Should electric outlets be on wall or baseboards? Photo shows current situation, where outlets are in baseboards. Apparently, this makes it easier to paint, and perhaps a bit more subtle. Higher on wall doesn't ruin look of wood?

For most of house, I will have choice before baseboards are installed. For non-renovated rooms (like in photo) contractor can move the outlets up to wall, and plug the hole in baseboard using salvaged trim.
