why not replace with terrazzo?

Most likely, you will find terrazzo below that wall you want to remove. Terrazzo was poured over the concrete slab, when built, and the walls were put on top on the terrazzo. You can find talented terrazzo refinishers in Florida. They can even repair holes, where carpet tacks have been or walls were nailed into the flooring. We removed wood that was glued to the terrazzo and all came our fine. Suggest that you go for the more durable finish. We went cheap and need to have the terrazzo refinished after 10 years. I want them to shine like Publix grocery store floors!

Curious as to how you finished your floor... we bought a house that has terrazzo floors only in the original parts of the house - not the later additions. The concrete floors are the same height as the terrazzo making it impossible to have a smooth transition. Hoping you found a way to do it...

Polish the concrete. If you expose the aggregate, it looks similar to terrazzo.
