Evie, my advice is to keep it simple. Tiles are by their very nature busy. When you start adding accent bands and murals and mixing shapes/sizes in small areas they start detracting from each other.

If you buy a couple of magazines like Veranda, Traditional Home, etc. you don't see a bunch of over decorated baths or backsplashes. They pick one tile. There are tons of Design Dilemmas where people want to rip out their newly installed tiles because they got carried away.

I get that tiles are very attractive and it's hard to pick just one. Pick just one and don't fall for the over-done designs you always see at the tile store.
