I don't think it works together. Too many colors and too many little pieces. Those back splashes seem to look better with a solid color or at least not too much variations. Something bigger and more neutral would look better.

Beautiful combination! But it is quite busy. Instead, I recommend going with the same type of glass tile, but all the same color and installed vertically for a waterfall effect.

No, you've got speckled with stripes. I'd pull out the cream and find a subway tile that matches or the grey glass that indomom mentioned.

We agree with indomom, a grey tile will compliment your counter top and soften the contrast between these materials and your cabinets. The black in the backsplash tile is too harsh. You can use a warm grey tile in stone or porcelain that matches the mid-tone colour in the counter top. We like a classic subway tile which will be timeless in a brick pattern. Choose a grout colour that is a shade lighter than the tile.

my only issue with picking a grey subway tile is what material??? glass seems to look too shinny to me but I don't know what else to choose from. any suggestions?

The backsplash is lovely, but I agree with the others. It's a little too busy with the counter. I think as a design rule of thumb, busy backsplash needs a solid counter top and visa versa. I agree 100% with Wendi (Inspired Interiors)...try the same pattern in a solid color...vertically. you could even add a colored tile here and there if you wanted some color. I am obsessed with vertical tile installation. A simple turn of the orientation, and you just added loads of dimension and interest to your design. Also, you could do glass subway tiles as well, perhaps in a 2x8 for a modern spin...if you want some color you could also do a vertical pattern...with a line of color occasionally....see photos for inspiration. Good look! We would love to see what you decide on!

I agree both are nice independently but together I think you will find it too busy over time.

I don't think it is too busy, it is just the wrong colors for the countertop. Your countertop seems to have a neutral cream/beige undertone and the backsplash tile you show has none of this. It has a much whiter tile. Try to find one with enough of the same undertone even if there is a lighter tile in the mix. You can try other materials besides glass tiles to give you a nice wow factor. Texture does amazing things as a backsplash. Mother of Pearl is becoming very popular as a backsplash. There are interesting textured tiles that can be used….

Notice how this tiny stacked stone tile works with the countertop. It is harder to clean, no doubt, but uses no mortar between the stone tiles for a unique look.

I agree on seeing the cabinets to help choose. But..if the cabinets are dark pick the med or lighter tones, if the cabinets are white.. well really they can all work…l
