Your view of the mountains in the distance is gorgeous. Is that the Blue Ridge? Anyways your house is fabulous I think as is with the grey and darker grey you have already. I attached a photo for a front door style. I like the color of your home much better than the one pictured. You could do a burnt orange color on the door. Here is Sherman Williams Fired Orange.

Great house. I would paint all the trim a more "milk chocolate" color. I like the red door you have now, add a same shade of red bench to the porch and 3 large red pots filled with yellow lantana..I know from experence deer do not eat it.

Interesting house! I imagine it to be as interesting on the inside too.
One idea for trim is to paint it the same as the house for more modern look. For example:
For front door- how about a flat panel painted a vibrant color or stained wood, or a door with a large, single lite. Any chance of getting your garage doors painted to match front door color?



Maybe a modern, long reclaimed wood bench along wall near front door with a large modern planter?

Or a series (5?) of modern planters along the wall near the door with the same plant (more vertical in form) in each. I'm not well versed in specific plants so I can't make any recommendations.
Would love to see what you end up doing!

Rosecottagehome, I feel ashamed to say I do not really know the names of the hills I am looking at.... though a Canadian myself I am in Southern Oregon now and I just call them all grizzly peak. shameful really. In a moment of pride I attached a photo of the view. It's a wonderful part of the world to be living.

It appears that the trim on different sides and parts of your home are different colors...or is just the light? Also looks as if you have different style windows on the side, or perhaps just different moldings? If it is the light, it would be better to go a redder deep chocolate brown, as the grey browns do tend to fade, that is perhaps what has happened.

Very likely that is the light. Everything is the same. The windows in the garage building are slightly different due to it being newer construction but the trim is all the same.

In that case, a switch to a red based brown rather than a grey based brown will make it all look richer and earthier. Just the trim and deck railing maybe just use paint to trim out the garage doors on the windows and doors themselves so it won't be so tall and blank.

Thank you. I was afraid of using colors with different bases... I was afraid of using color period.... hence the very similar trim to main color. I will go forth and explore this as an option.

Usually paint that is exposed to the sun fades if it is grey based and ends up looking washed out or dull....hence different sides of the house has different color of trim. Must be a pigment thing...might have a discussion with a paint guy to see which colors to avoid since you get full sun exposure on that one side.
